All our lives are made up of stories. Stories are how we understand and make sense of the world. Stories connect us to each other, and are the basis of community.
The better we understand the stories of our lives, the more grounded, hopeful and joyful we can live.
Making the effort the record your personal history has a number of significant benefits. The clearer you can be about who you are and where you come from, the better you will be able to chart your future and get the most out of it in terms of life satisfaction and quality. Engaging with your personal history will also broaden your understanding of the life events you have experienced and has the potential to help you integrate the learning you have acquired as a result. Some will want to leave their stories as a legacy to loved ones or as part of the public record of lives lived.
Whatever your reason for beginning a personal history or memoir, my goal is to be both a help and catalyst to your process.
